Mike1.jpgMike Taylor
At the age of 9 Mike was teaching himself to play the bass guitar by ear on his Hoffner Beatle Bass. By the age of 13 he had formed his first band "Lost Horizon" and was selling out the school gymnasium with the bands self produced shows. In time he auditioned for Styx and didnt make the band but he met what would become his best friend Wayne Brown and together formed the band "Storm". Storm played many of Chicago areas festivals and played their 70's style Rock and Blues music to the masses. After the break up of Storm Mike went to work as a union pipe fitter and had layed down his bass. He broke his back at work and spent many years re-cooping from two surgerys. He met Kelley in 2001 and with her encouragement began to play again. Together they formed "Big Red and The Soul Benders" and has been playing the blues for the past several years adding his wonderful lead bass style to their music. Laying down the bass lines to the music that Kelley writes. His style and timing is some of the finest bass work around.
